Arun Kumar 13 October 2022MyGov India has begun the publication of the Sabka Vikas Mahaquiz series as part of its mission to broaden the general populace's understanding. The quiz aims to educate participants about the numerous state and central government programmes and initiatives currently active in India.
To achieve this goal, MyGov is conducting a test to determine the extent of the participants' familiarity with New India. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will be the focus of the second test in this collection (PMAY).
About the Prime Minister's Affordable Housing Initiative (PMAY)
According to what the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has stated to be a mission important for the New India, every Indian citizen should have a pucca roof over their head. To achieve this goal, the government of India established the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to facilitate the construction of pucca dwellings for the underprivileged and marginalized residents of the country. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) are two programmes employed to carry out the objective of the mission.
Gramin Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
By 2024, 2.95 crore kutcha homes and other dilapidated rural residences will be replaced with pucca homes that are fully furnished and equipped with modern conveniences. People who meet the requirements for the Scheme are eligible to receive financial assistance to assist them in building houses.
Hilly states, challenging locations, and IAP districts are each given Rs 1.3 million, whereas plains districts are only given Rs 1.2 million (Integrated Action Plan for Select Tribal and Backward Districts). You have the opportunity to get Rs 12,000 from the Swachh Bharat Mission - Gramin to build toilets in your neighbourhood.
As of April 28 in the year 2022, there were 2.34 million homes that had been given the green light to be built; however, only 1.79 million dwellings had been completed. These figures indicate a significant change that will result in an improvement in the standard of living for millions of individuals.
How to apply for PMAY-G.
According to the SECC data and the Awas+ survey findings, for a family to be eligible for help from the PMAY-G programme, the household must have either zero, one, or two usable bedrooms, as well as kutcha walls and kutcha roofs. They are included on a list created with the assistance of surveys conducted at the national, state, and gramme panchayat levels, such as the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC 2011). Those who aren't listed on the list but are still eligible to get housing aid can still register a complaint with the local authorities if they choose to do so.
The beneficiary's name will appear on a sanction order as soon as the list is complete and has been finalized. When a sanction has been granted in the recipient's favour, they will also be informed by a text message. The beneficiary may view the sanction order online using his PMAY-G ID and download it, or the sanction order can be acquired directly from the Block Office. The initial payment must be deposited into the beneficiary's registered bank account no later than seven (7) business days from when the sanction order was issued. This can be done either manually or by electronic means.

The program initiation
As part of the more comprehensive "Housing for All" project, the Urban Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana was initiated in June of 2015 to provide Pucca Houses to low-income households in urban areas. Residents in slums, as well as those who fall into the categories of Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Lower Income Group (LIG), and Middle Income Group (MIG), have benefitted from the Central Assistance to States/UTs that has been made available via the mission to satisfy their housing requirements.
Those eligible for land in Patta are given financial assistance; those not suitable may be provided freshly constructed dwellings instead. Among the various benefits offered by the schemes are financial aid for the building or purchasing of a pucca home, access to running water, electricity, and sanitary amenities, and the provision of sole or part ownership of the property to women. There have been approvals for around 1.2 million dwellings, and there have been 58 lakhs erected as of March 2022.
Getting started with PMAY-U is easy if you follow these steps.
People interested in receiving help need to get in touch with the relevant Urban Local Body in their district. Beneficiaries of the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) are eligible to get a reduction in the interest rate they pay on their mortgages if they apply to either their bank or a home finance company. Both 011-23063285 and 011-23060484 are helpful phone numbers if you need assistance. Several practical mobile applications include the BHUVAN App, the Bharat HFA App, the GHTC India App, and the PMAY (Urban) App.
The Department of Rural Development in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands proposes to provide 1554 beneficiaries with weatherproof pucca dwellings that are fully equipped with electricity, flush toilets, running water, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Currently, 513 winners have moved into the new homes developed for them.
The recipients are indebted to the Administration for making it possible for them to purchase a pucca house. They have expressed gratitude to the Administration from the depths of their hearts. Shri Viswanathan is one of the individuals who benefited from the Beodnabad Gram Panchayat's housing programme and who now owns a house due to the programme.
He is a private labourer, and his monthly salary of Rs.8,000/- allows him to provide for his family. Even though the condition of his home was appalling, he was given the authorization to receive a brand new residence via the PMAY (G) programme for the 2020-21 fiscal year. With the assistance of PMAY-G, 90 person-days of MGNREGS labour, and his finances, he could construct a house briefly.
Particularities that are characteristic of the Mahaquiz
Users of MyGov Saathi can utilize any State's implementation of the product. At this point, implementing the plan in that state will be the primary emphasis of the questions on the exam. In addition to English and Hindi, candidates can take the examination in several languages, including regional dialects.
The beneficiaries of the New Houses programme reported significant improvements in their sense of social status, self-worth, confidence, ownership, safety and security, self-perceived improvement in health, overall quality of life, and overall satisfaction after completing the New Houses programme.
It is essential to acknowledge the existing effectiveness of the programme in establishing safe, stable, and secure settings for people in rural areas, with a particular focus on women, children, and other vulnerable groups. The Department of Housing and Urban Development plans to construct an additional four hundred dwellings throughout the fiscal year.
Swachh Bharat Mission – Gramin provides its beneficiaries with financial support (SBM-G).
So far, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has constructed 600 dwellings out of a total of 1337 that were planned. There are currently 739 beneficiaries who have received funds and have houses built for them. By March 31, 2021, a number of them should have completed the house. The UT had distributed payments to around 86% of the people who were supposed to receive them.
The beneficiaries are incredibly grateful to the Department for assisting them in transitioning from being tenants or homeless to homeowners. Shri S. Sarsu, Shri Andasamy, and Shri Raman were all complimentary of the new indoor cooking facility made available by PMAY-G during an interview with the Wandoor General Practitioners. The norm of cooking outside has been changed as a result of this. On the other hand, our more recent residences require zero maintenance, in contrast to the muddy and run-down properties we own. Shri Sundaram Tirkey and Shri Dinabandhu Das, both Guptapara Gram Panchayat members, have realized that the PMAY-G project has significantly impacted their lives.
