This way, women's empowerment would also be taken care of. All these provisions were created for one reason: there would be an ensurity of including more people in the plan according to their income, financial stability, and land availability. 

Features of the Yojna

In Gujarat, the PMAY scheme is being implemented by the Gujarat Housing Board (GHB). The GHB has been assigned to identify suitable land for constructing affordable housing units and developing infrastructure facilities such as water, electricity, and roads.

1. The scheme offers an interest subsidy on loan amounts upto INR 6 lakhs for 15 years.

2. It provides financial assistance of INR 1.5 lakhs for constructing new houses and INR 2.5 lakhs for rehabilitating existing houses.

3. Under the scheme, an eligible beneficiary can avail of a loan of upto INR 9 lakhs from any financial institution for the construction of a new house or improvement of the existing house.

4. The government has set up a toll-free helpline (1800-180-1111) to provide information and assistance to the scheme's beneficiaries.

5. The government has also launched an online portal, PMAY (Urban) – Housing for All, for providing information about the scheme and its progress.

7. The government has earmarked INR 600 crore to implement the PMAY scheme in Gujarat.

Eligibility Criteria of the Yojna

The following are the eligibility criteria for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gujarat as per the government rules and regulations;
 

• The applicant must be a resident of Gujarat.
• The ration card should have the name of the applicant.
• The applicant should not own a cemented house anywhere in India.
• Rs. 1 lakh should be the maximum annual income. 
• The applicants belonging to SC/ST and OBC categories will get a relaxation of Rs. 2 lakhs in the income criteria.
