To become a beneficiary of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Maharashtra, you need to be a part of one of the four economic categories per your annual household income. Depending on how much money you make in a year, you may qualify for the scheme if you lie in any of the below-mentioned economic groups:
- Suppose you want to qualify as a beneficiary of the scheme under the Economically Weaker Section of the Low Economic Group. In that case, your annual household income needs to be less than Rs. 6 lakhs.
- In order to qualify for the scheme under the Middle Income Group, your annual household income needs to be more than six lakhs but less than 12 lakhs
- You may be able to qualify as a beneficiary for the scheme under the Middle Income Group II if your annual household income exceeds Rs. 12 Lakhs but is less than Rs. 18 Lakhs

- The scheme provides a subsidy on the interest of up to Rs. 2.67 lakhs alleviated on home loans taken to purchase a property under the scheme. The subsidy can be claimed for up to 20 years, and in case the tenure of your home loan exceeds the timeframe, you will not be able to claim any subsidy for the remaining tenure of your home loan.
- If you take a home loan of up to Rs. 6 lakhs as a beneficiary of the scheme as a part of the economically weaker section of the society, earning an annual household income of Rs. 6 lakhs or less, then you can avail yourself a subsidy of 6.50% on the interest accumulated.
- For home loans of up to Rs. 9 lakhs under the PMAY scheme, you will be able to gain a subsidy of 4% on the interest accumulated if your annual household income is less than Rs. 12 Lakhs and you’re a part of the MIG I category.
- A subsidy of 3% on the interest accumulated on home loans of up to Rs. 12 lakhs under the scheme can be availed if your household earns an annual income of up to Rs. 18 lakhs and falls under the MIG II category.
