Arun Kumar 21 September 2022Authority for the Yamuna Expressway (Yeida)
The Yamuna Expressway, also known as the Taj Expressway, is access-controlled in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. That currently has a length of 165.5 kilometers and a width of six lanes, with plans to expand to eight lanes shortly. Since February 2017, it has become the third-longest Expressway in India. Its construction was prompted by the need to relieve traffic on the congested National Highway 2 (NH-2) between Delhi and Agra, also known as Mathura Road.
On August 9, 2012, then-UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav opened a highway with a project value of 12,839 crores (US$1.6 billion).
Thirteen service roads, totaling around 168 kilometers, have been constructed to connect the Expressway to local communities. A Doubtful Source an interchange is connecting the Yamuna Expressway with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway is currently being constructed in the hamlet of Jaganpur Afzalpur, close to Noida International University in the district of Gautam Buddh Nagar.
History
It was designed to shorten the time needed to go from Delhi NCR to Agra. In 2001, the state government of Uttar Pradesh first dreamt of the idea (led by Rajnath Singh). However, the project didn't get off the ground until 2003 because of the constant turnover in the Uttar Pradesh state government and because it wasn't economically viable until that year. Former Chief Minister Mayawati's return to power in the 2007 state elections sparked a revival of the project, and the Yamuna Expressway was rechristened as such the following year.
It was Jaypee Infratech Limited that carried out the Yamuna Expressway construction project.
In May 2012, Jaypee Group notified state government authorities that they had finished building the highway.
On 9 August 2012, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, through video conference from Lucknow, officially opened the Yamuna Expressway, approximately two years beyond the intended completion date.
The landing of fighter planes
On 21 May 2015, at about 6.40 a.m., the Indian Air Force landed a French Dassault Mirage 2000 on the Yamuna Expressway near Raya village, Mathura. This was the first for military aviation in India. The exercise was a part of a larger test of several scenarios in which defense aircraft would need to land on a roadway. Another test landing by two Mirage-2000 planes on an airfield in Akhilesh Yadav's Saifai hamlet in Etawah was very near to the IAF's first-ever road landing. On 11 May, the government of Uttar Pradesh gave the air force permission to convert a 3-kilometer section of the planned Agra-Lucknow Expressway into a road runway. The IAF conducted the mission in secrecy, only allowing the relevant authorities on board, much like the Saifai landings. The IAF has ordered the removal of any photographers and videographers. The Central Air Command had proposed turning a three-kilometer (kilometer) straight section of the Agra-Lucknow highway into India's first road runway in a meeting with former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Use of the Metro System
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has approved a metro connection to the highway (YEIDA). Pari Chowk, where a new metro station is planned, would connect to Yamuna Expressway Sectors 18 and 20. These are the 1st inhabited sections urbanized by the authority and are now under development.

A Maximum Allowable Speed for Traveling Within a City Those driving on the Expressway can only go 100 kilometers per hour (about 62 miles per hour). Overtaking is permitted only in the far right expressway lane.

The highway spans 302 kilometers (188 miles). The projected Sanjay Khan project would connect seven different towns with an amusement park bordered by the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. Through the Agra Inner Ring Road Expressway, which is 11.9 km (7.39 mi) long, the Yamuna Expressway is connected to the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, allowing visitors to bypass the city's congested streets and get straight to the Taj Mahal.
