Hyderabad is a south Indian capital of the state of Telangana. The river Musi flows along the state. It ranks fourth in terms of population. Telugu is known as the official language of the state. It was earlier called the city of pearls. It is known for pearl and diamond trading industry. The famous bazaars here are Laad Bazaar, Begum Bazaar and Sultan Bazaar. The rapid industrialization in the city led to setting up of some important industries and research centres. Hyderabad is 963 miles from Delhi and lies in the southeastern part of the peninsula region. The Deccan plateau lies in the north of the state. Hyderabad is among the largest metropolitan cities in India. It is also famous for its artificial lakes such as Osman Sagar, Himayat Sagar and Hussain Sagar. There were some 140 lakes recorded in Hyderabad in 1996. Hyderabad has a tropical climate because of the coastal influence. The city also has some national parks and zoological parks. The most famous being the Nehru Zoological Park, Manjira wildlife sanctuary and Kasubrahmananda Park. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation takes care of the administration in Hyderabad. It has some 150 municipal wards. Municipal Corporation of greater Hyderabad takes care of the infrastructural development in the state. Law and order come under the governor of Telangana. Hyderabad is headed by a deputy commissioner. The city also has good healthcare facilities with foggy government hospitals, and three hindered private hospitals. The city is well connected by roadways and railways. The MMTS rail service serves the city well and makes commutation easy for daily passengers. The Secundrabad railways station is the largest station in Hyderabad. The national highways NH-7, NH-65 and NH-163, pass through this city. Rajiv Gandhi international airport is an important gateway for travellers here. Hyderabad is eyed by many real estate projects and townships for development of commercial and residential infrastructure.
